17 Arbitrary Things You Probably Don’t Know About Adam Paudyal.

Adam Paudyal

You can tell by reading the title that today’s post is going to be a little different than my regular posts. I have always wanted to share more about me to my readers; so I finally decided to jot down some random facts about myself.

Personal blog posts like these are very helpful to showcase your personality to your audience. It makes your blog sticky; helps your audience relate to you in a deeper level which makes it a lot easier for you to connect with them. Besides being a great way to build relations and strengthen your community, these kinds of posts are a lot enjoyable to write.

Why 17 ?

You know, I could write hundreds of things that you probably don’t know about me. But, I just wanted to choose 17 for today. 17 is not my favorite number or anything – 5 is, just to let you know. As I am writing this post, I am pretty sure, I will be including more than 17 facts about myself, but let’s keep the number to 17 for right now. I know you guys don’t mind :O)

  • Ok now! Who in the heck is Adam Paudyal? I was born on March 13, 1985 in Kavre, a remote but very beautiful village in the country of Nepal. My birth name is Madhu Ban Paudyal. I was raised in the capital city; Kathmandu for the first 13 years of my life. Then, my family and I moved to Canberra, Australia – where we lived till I was 18. My first day at school in Australia, my classmates started calling me Adam, I guess Madhu was too hard to pronounce or it sounds a bit like Adam…,whatever,…But, I have been stuck with Adam since then and I really don’t mind it at all.

Nepal - The country of Mount Everest.

  • I went to 9 different schools in 2 different continents while growing up. My dad is a bureaucrat for the Nepalese government, an economist and a professor. My mum is an officer in a respected organization. But me, I am a college dropout..ouch!…I hate to admit it but it is the truth. I don’t want to be a bad influence to anybody. I might go back to college someday to get my degree but for right now, that is not my priority…you guessed it right…Blogging is!
  • I have been to 7 different countries in 4 different continents including Australia, Singapore, Hongkong, India, Austria and I am currently residing in the United States. A whole lot of fun, hell ya!!! But, the consequences of having to move so many times are always there, you know!
  • I recently became a dad. My wife and I just welcomed a new addition to our family – Nisha Darlene Paudyal, our bundle of joy.
  • Business is engraved in me – I sold candies, marbles, stationeries, lunch in school to make extra bucks. I got punished for selling in the school premises plenty of times; but that didn’t stop me. It is funny when I think about it now. Man; those days were the good old days! Carefree and fun days !!

    My baby girl

  • At 23, I quit my 9-5 job to start my own webdesign business – I was doing great at first, but didn’t work out well – wish I had known about outsourcing back then! Maybe I should jump into it again.
  • Love listening to different music genre. Big fan of GnR, Nirvana, Metallica, Nickelback, .., and some of the rap songs that do not talk about shiny 28″, big wad of money or Bitches.  My all time favorite is Rob Thomas. Man; this guy rocks!
  • I drink a lot of coffee, a habit I picked up when I started blogging. Not a big fan of soft drinks however.
  • Once I fell off a two story roof and did not break a bone. Haven’t broken any bones in my body yet!!…Knock on wood..haha!
  • My favorite color is Red. Don’t get me wrong here! I am not the confrontational type. I like peace.
  • I am the oldest of 2 kids. And my parents always considered me as an outcast. My younger brother is currently finishing his final years of school.
  • I love volunteering. There is something about giving that I totally dig!! I was a member of Lions club back in Nepal. Volunteered for youth club in Australia. Currently not associated with any clubs or organizations – but I do help out an old couple that live in my neighborhood, every time they need help.
  • I used to have a five and a half feet long ball python as a pet. Once it disappeared from the aquarium and I couldn’t find it for 2 days. Guess where it was at ? Underneath the couch cushion. I finally sold it to a friend of mine but it died pretty soon afterwards. Right now I have 2 amazing dogs; Brutus the mutt and Patchy the Pomeranian. (Patchy is my wife’s dog and I am not a big fan of that pooper!!) I love pets though! My first blog was about pets.
  • Love watching new movies. But, lately here haven’t been able to do any of that due to the time constraint. I am a huge Kung-Fu buff; especially the funny ones. They really make me laugh!
  • I played Basketball, Soccer and Cricket while growing up. Also used to sponsor games when I was a teenager. Got quite a few trophies on track and field. I still shoot some hoops every now and then. And yeah, I was really addicted to video games as well.
  • Big fan of cartoons; The Simpsons, Popeye, Tom and Jerry – my all time favorites. Other than that, I love watching animal planet or discovery. The Flora and Fauna really intrigues me; Nature lover by heart! You know!

The Simpsons - my all time favorite!

  • I am not a serious guy…Well, may be I am when it comes to blogging!!!

Man; This is fun! Who says blogging isn’t fun? I could really go on and on but I think I should stop here for right now. Thank you for reading the rambles about me.

Tell me about it Thu! Life is all about having fun; why not right? We got one life to live.

I am glad you like my rambles. You are definitely one of the coolest blogger I know. And you are the blogging rockstar!

LOL, I think it’s just being honest about what you like, taking in the thoughts of those who are willing to give their advice to you and implement them. Volunteering to try things out even though you know you might not succeed, just because you want to try!

Overall, I think that is part of being in the community we’re in. For example, our Mastermind group, that has got to be the most awesome decision ever, because you say so yourself, that’s life-changing. I cannot agree more.

It gives you purpose and see beyond that of which you cannot see. So you can say, one of the things I’ve learn is keep your friends close but I haven’t made enemies yet, so how can I keep them close haha! :P

In the end, I’m so very honored to have an awesome blogger buddy like yourself. It’s times like these we have to be thankful for our connections. ;)

Alright, without further ado on the cheese-bit, take it easy and keep on being cool!

I agree. Joining the mastermind group was a life changing moment. It literally gave me a step-up in my blogging endeavor. And I know you have gained a lot from the experience as well.

Anyways, I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in the future. I know it is going to be remarkable…after all, you are the blogging rockstar..haha

    Hi Adam

What an interesting life you have lived. I thought you must have come from India cos of your surname. Nepal; conjures up beautiful images to me. Cool that you spent 4 years in Oz. You can now be dubbed and honourary Aussie :-)

Alex dubbed Rick an honourary Aussie and I think it was just cos he laughed at Alex’ jokes lol Whereas you lived here and know about cricket. That definitely qualifies you.

I love the way you have shared and now I feel I know you a little better. Here’s to your continuing blogging success. Your daughter looks so adorable. Thanks for sharing her photo with us.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

      Genuine Aussie huh. Thanks Pat.

I never would have guessed you were Nepalese. I’ve been watching some documentaries on Tibet, and I’m curious as to whether life in Kathmandu is more similar to Lhasa or the larger cities of India or Bangladesh? I suppose it would be closer to Bhutan, but what do I know as a Canadian?

I graduated with a University degree, but am not working in that field, so I might as well be a dropout. I think it is far more important for you to follow your passions and dreams. If that dream does not take you through college/University, than so be it. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Yeah, you are right James. I am surprised that you know so much about Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and the surrounding areas. To tell you the truth roughly 80 % of the people I know do not even know where Nepal is!

Life is somewhat similar in the surrounding cities around there. You know Nepal being landlocked by 2 big countries India and China, they have a lot of influence in the culture and the system that is in place; which is not always advantageous; You know what I mean!

I am not ashamed of being a college dropout James. I have future plans on going back to college and at least get a degree – maybe a degree on something that is going to help later on in my blogging endeavor.

Thanks James for your wonderful and always interesting insights.

      Later on brother..

    Adam,

Great post. I really like the “get to know you posts” I think they are great to hear about what makes the bloggers you know, “tick”.

It seems to me that you have had a pretty exciting life living in Nepal, Australia and now the US. That is really awesome. I think you likely get a lifetimes worth of experience just interacting with all the separate cultures.

Your daughter is beautiful and I am sure you are an enormously proud papa! Thanks for having a great article that lets us all get a little closer to you.

    Have a great day!

Hi Adam, these posts are fun! Why haven’t I done one yet?

It sounds like it was hard to move so many times, but definitely interesting. I’ve only lived in one country myself.

Some things I have in common with you are that entrepreneurship is in my blood, my favorite color is red too, I think Rob Thomas is underrated, I am the oldest of 2, I love nature shows, and I used to do a lot of volunteering when I was a Girl Scout. To get the Gold Award requires 75 hours of volunteering minimum.

All that experience accumulated by getting to mingle with different cultures and people is nothing but AMAZING Jen. And you are right! There are always the consequences of having to move so many times. But the experience really overshadows the negative parts.

    Madhu, you asked for it.
Here’s a few things about me: I’m a 60′s kid, a 49er – one of the last group of World War II baby boomers. This timing put me squarely in several hot seats at once during that tumultuous period – civil rights, Vietnam War, and the hippie movements. I cut my teeth on Bill Russell, James Brown, JFK, Jim Morrison and later Jimi Hendrix. Wound up not being drafted in ’68 and decided to see North America since I had never been anywhere. I actually got to hitch-hike the remains of Route 66 as it stood in the early 70s. The 80s were spent as a perpetual student. During this period I fell in love with the outdoors, backpacking, hiking. Hiked the Rockies Parks – Rocky Mountain, Colorado to Banff, Canada and Demali, Alaska as well as through the Grand Canyon.
Today I’m a semi retired computer technician that’s looking to take his mountain bike, backpack, and bowling balls on the road again.
Your site has helped me conceptualize major parts of my plans. Thank you and Hell yes!
