7 Grand Benefits Of Showcasing Round-up Of Blog Posts.

benefits of roundups

Many of you are already aware of the experiment I conducted for 6 weeks, here at Endeavor Online, showcasing the roundup of blog posts, from around the blogosphere. The Sunday Synopsis as I called it; was an instant hit among my readers. I got awesome feedback from a lot of high profile bloggers as well; Alex, Murray, Steve, Ana, Thu; just to name a few…The roundups also helped in bringing steady flow of traffic to my site.

Roundups are lists post that carry a grand value. Roundups are without a doubt, an awesome internet marketing strategy. They are great especially for newbie bloggers to gain momentum and effectively promote the blog.

Some of you may think that it is foolish to link to other bloggers and promote their posts, especially the ones that are your own competition. That is exactly what I thought about roundups at first. I thought it was really a waste of time and energy. But I was wrong. Roundups are truly worth it.

A little advice…

Your roundups don’t have to be freakishly long. Short and creative ones can be just as effective. The most important thing to consider in roundups is that you should also include your insights as well; rather than just listing the links. After a short insight you can give the link so that your audience can jump into the meat of the topic.

Posting roundups regularly; every week, every fifteen days or every month can be very beneficial for your blog. If you decide to do roundups, feature minimum of 5 and maximum of 20 posts. Don’t overdo it.

Now, here are some impressive benefits of showcasing roundup of posts in your blog:

1. Increase exposure and networking opportunities:

Featuring great posts from around the web really increases your exposure, helps you gain more links and create your blog as a go to place for other bloggers around the blogosphere. This is a great way to build relationships. Roundups help you gain popularity and also give you the opportunity to network with high profile bloggers. You might get a thank you for the mention or they may actually read some of your other posts and be impressed. What do you think?

2. Promote your brand by getting steady flow of traffic:

If you feature a blogger’s post, they might be generous enough and feature one of your own. If the blogger happens to be the one with a high profile, it really helps you build your credibility. There is a lot of power in the recommendations of high profile bloggers. This is very valuable for your blogging success. Trust me on that!

3. Give bloggers the credit they deserve:

Online success depends on finding creative and unique way of giving things. And of course, you can’t possibly cover every topic that you want to talk about. So why not showcase other blogger’s work and give them the true credit they deserve? It is not all about the competition you know! This could be a perfect opportunity to befriend a high profile blogger. A win win situation! What do you say?

4. For your own research:

Roundups are also an awesome way to keep up with what is going on in the blogosphere. It is a great place for you to go back and research on the topic that your can possibly talk about. Besides that, blogging is really a journey and it is fun to take a synopsis of what you see and where you have been in a certain time frame.

5. Huge benefits for your audience:

Once your readers start finding new and insightful articles in your blog, they are more likely to visit your blog instead of going in a rampant browsing spree. This in a way makes your site a hub. After all, blogging is really about sharing and once you start to share the best of the web, you are literally promoting yourself. Didn’t think about that; did ya?

6. Creative and experimental benefits:

Creating unique ways of showcasing roundups provide a great opportunity to stand out of the crowd. It helps you showoff your personality and bring out your creative side. It gives you your own turf to experiment…!!!

7. SEO benefits:

Linking to high authority sites help gain the search engine ranks. And if the blogger links back to you, there is a lot of SEO juice. To strengthen the focus in your own niche, you can also showcase some of your old posts in the roundups as well. This can give your post a boost on the page views and reduce the bounce rate.

Are you using roundup of posts for your benefit? If yes, how are you benefiting from it?

    Hi Adam

I really enjoyed the way you did your roundups. And I especially liked that they were on Sundays as there are so manyFridays roundups I can get information overload!

I don’t do roundups at the moment on my blog. But I have noted that when I did a post thanking different bloggers for their input into my blogging journey the traffic soared. Also the comments went up too. I think people like to read positive and affirming posts. Also it’s great to introduce regular readers to others they may not know.

My roundups, the Sunday synopsis was a great hit and I really enjoyed featuring it here. Even thought there are a lot of benefits of roundups of posts, I decided to move on because I thought I needed to make a new turn in my blogging endeavor.

Thank you for your awesome comments, as always Pat. You Rock!

One of those really great benefits you get from doing those roundup posts, Adam, is that you leverage the community – when people see that they’ve been featured in a post, they usually share it with others – instant traffic.

It builds that connection with others because it shows that you’re paying attention to their blogs; they come over and comment and the post keeps wracking up.

Overall, I’m not a HUGE fan of roundup posts but you did a great job with them because you stylized it – you added in your own input – instead of just pasting in graphics and links.

      Exactly Murray,

Roundups are an awesome way to leverage the community and get instant traffic. Great way to wrack up the comments in the blog, just like you mentioned.

Like I mentioned in the posts above, I wasn’t a huge fan of roundups but after I actually started it and saw the benefits, I began loving it. I am missing roundups already Murray!!! ;-) I really learned a lot from the roundups. However, It was time to move on..

Thanks for your awesome insights Murray !!!

      Later on brother..

    Hi Adam:

What a nice analysis of round up posts. Starting from getting exposure to SEO benefits. You have expressed it in an amazing fashion. It is the writing style that brings charm importance and popularity. Since you have an outstanding writing style, whatever you write will bring same results.

Round up are based on collective presentation and that is why the synergy that these posts produce have everlasting results.

      Fran,

Thank you for your awesome support. My readers, like you, really inspire me to keep on going.

Talking about the writing style, I really think it has evolved as I have started to pepper my personality in the blog posts. I do need to make a lot of improvements but the best thing is that I have started to be more myself instead of being blunt or trying to sound like a problogger.

Thanks for your motivating words Fran.

      You have a wonderful day.

I am definetly a fan of roundups, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. They are a way to give back…but also a way to promote.

I totally agree they should be more than just flat out lists too. I usually put as much (sometimes more) thought into my roundups than I do regular posts.

The important thing Is that they be a lot more than 5-15 general posts pulled off feedburner.

Great job with yours and maybe someday you will be enticed back to the land of roundups.

      Steve,

Thanks for the awesome input as usual. Roundups certainly help in promotion. You know, it has been what; 3 weeks and I am now really starting to see the difference…

Your way of doing roundups is pretty unique as well man. You sure do know how to tell a story and please your audience at the same time.

I think I should jump back in the roundups bandwagon again, maybe a bi-weekly one instead of weekly synopsis..

      What do you say Steve?

Hi Adam, I can’t remember where I got the idea for a round-up but I soon realized they were great. I agree with all your points here, but the first benefit was the increase in comments. Unless someone is a very high ranked blogger, they will almost always thank you for linking to them. Then I noticed a high probability of retweeting my post, or using other social media to spread the word. In addition, they are a great way to give back to those who are supporting you, and recognize people who are rocking their blog but aren’t well known.

      Hello Jen,

Yeah, increase in visitors can certainly lead to the increment in comments. And like you mentioned Jen, I also noticed that my posts got more retweets and diggs due to the roundups.

All this conversation is making me wanting to get back doing the synopsis ! I definitely need to work on a comeback Synopsis now :O)

      Thanks for the comments Jen.

      You have an awesome day.

Monthly Roundups represent an efficient way to highlight your most popular posts and to make the readers visit your archives. At the beginning of every month simply check your statistics to see what were the posts that attracted the most traffic over the past four weeks and present them to your readers with a short summary.
