Grandma: May You Rest In Peace!

candles burning

Yesterday (07/29/2011) at 11:59 AM, Grandma passed away after the doctors and family members decided to take her off the life support. I wasn’t prepared for how profoundly sad this made me.

She was only 75 but was in constant pain from arthritis and cancer. And the recent heart attack she got while undergoing chemotherapy really got her health to deteriorate even more.

She was not my own grandma by blood but she was more than a grandmother to me. She was one of the most important people in my life.

Now, I vividly remember the times when she talked about dying and I would say, grandma – you are not going to die anytime soon. Who knew because we all were expecting her to stick around for a while!

She was inspiring, intelligent, beautiful, willful, active, smart, hardworking and ever so caring. She loved everyone no matter who they were. All I remember now is how compassionate I felt when she looked at me with them beady eyes, touched me, hugged me every time she saw me. How she called every guys beta (son) and girls beti (daughter). She was very empathetic and loved not only her immediate family members but also everyone else that crossed paths with her. And I am so glad I did cross paths with her, so glad that I met her and to be a part of the wonderful and vibrant Virani family.

She was my favorite cook. The dishes she prepared were simply the best. Every time I see her, I would say – Grandma, what’s cooking today? And then she would smile big, from ear to ear,  and say – It doesn’t matter what I cook, I know you are going to eat it!

I feel like she is in a better place wherever she is at, she is happy and she is not suffering anymore. Now, I think that her passing away is not a bad thing after all. It reminds me one more time that our life on earth is temporary. Ultimately, this temporary life will come to an end for all of us. I’m having mixed feelings this very instant. But I still feel very sad that she’s gone.

Grandma – We all love you and miss you more than you could ever imagine.

So, THIS ONE FOR YOU:

It’s So Hard To Believe That You’re Really Gone

And To Know That We Will No Longer

See Your Smiling Face,

Or Hear The Sound Of Your Laughter

You Left So Many Memories, Which Will Never Part

You Will Always Live Deep Inside Our Hearts

We Are Thankful That We Were Graced

With Someone As Special As You

It’s Just Too Hard To Believe

Your Days On Earth Is Really Through!

In Loving Memory Of Grandma – Parin Virani.

I’m so sorry to hear of your grandmother’s passing Adam. My thoughts and prayer are with you during this time.

Even though we know that this happens to everyone, it’s not that easy when it’s your own family. Even knowing that they are in a much better place and no longer in pain, we still miss their physical presence. It does help though that they are in a much better place now.

What a wonderful tribute to your grandmother and I have no doubt she’d be very honored.

    Take care my wonderful friend.

    Adam,

I have just got back from being on vaca. for a bit and dropped into see how you were doing/what you have been up to.

I am sorry to see the news of your grandma.

This was a moving tribute to your grandma, though and I am sure she is looking down on you and quite proud. It is times like this when the things that REALLY matter come into focus.

It is a little late for well wishes, but i really wish you and your family the best!

    Best Wishes,

    Steve

This may be late, but I want to extend my deepest sympathy for you… I know how hard loosing someone you love. My father passed away last year of September, yet the pain of loosing him is still fresh in my heart and mind. What I think is my father is already at peace with the Lord our God and that is the only thing that makes me accept the reality.
