Have you ever thought of writing an elevator pitch for yourself, your business or your blog? The importance of an elevator pitch is immense in today’s business world. A carefully constructed pitch can be the difference between success and failure. So, in this post I want to explain what an elevator pitch is and provide some important tips and instructions on how to write a compelling pitch for your business or a blog.
What is an Elevator Pitch?
Elevator pitch is a short overview of your products, services, ideas or a project that you can use to get your point quickly across to another person. The idea of an elevator pitch is to deliver what you do in a short sentence, usually 100-150 words, literally in a time span of an elevator ride.
Since it has to be short and to the point, you should only include the main ideas you are trying to relay and exclude all the unnecessary words. Some of the fundamental points you should include in your elevator pitch are as follows:
- Who you are and what you offer…. your products, services, projects, ideas….
- How is it beneficial and who is going to benefit?….your audience, visitors, clients….
- How are you going to be successful with what you offer?….the combination of what you offer and how is it going to help somebody….
The benefit of having a carefully constructed elevator pitch is huge for any businesses. This can be the one thing that separates you from your competition and anything that distinguishes you from your competition is always a plus. You need to have one ready so that you can readily convey about yourself, your business or your blog when the opportunity arises. This is to ensure that you have something effective to say about what you offer instead of stuttering when the time comes. Always think about an elevator pitch as a conversation opener and how you are going to expand from it to entice your potential audience or clients.
Why is it important to bloggers?
Bloggers, you need to create an elevator pitch because it helps identify your brand. It creates your unique identity amongst the competition. It can be the potential PUNCH for your random visitors to become regular visitors and then into clients. It can also be a guideline to writing contents in your blog. Furthermore, it helps in search engine optimization as well as promoting your blog in the web.
The main idea of having an elevator pitch in blogs is to communicate efficiently to your audience in a short period of time. Keep in mind, your audience just might be your potential customers, advertisers, fellow bloggers as well as business partners. In order to communicate efficiently to all these prospects, elevator pitch comes in real handy.
Where can you use an elevator pitch?
As a blogger, there is no limit to where you can use an elevator pitch. It can be used just about anywhere you advertise your blog.
