Hey readers of endeavor online!

Before I start today’s post I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this holiday season and the New Year bring more happiness, success and prosperity to you and your loved ones!

Another year is almost over and the new year is knocking on the door. Even though it is never too late to kick start good habits; there is something about the New Year that inspires us all for a new beginning. One of the things that I am really devoted to, this coming year, is to work on cultivating more successful habits for my daily lifestyle as well as in my blogging endeavor.

As an inspiration to work more on my blogging habits, last week, I contacted some of my very own inspirational bloggers to share their insights on cultivating successful blogging habits.

I asked everyone of them the same question:

What are your successful blogging habits and how do you cultivate them?

Here is the low-down they gave. I really hope this provides you with a great deal of inspiration and motivation; just like it has to me. This post turned out to be pretty long, 2100+ words; hence, I have integrated a print and pdf button right next to the retweet button up top so that you can either print this post or get a pdf version if you wish. But anyways, here we go;

Murray from Murlu says:

It’s true that we, humans, are  creatures of habit but also remember the old saying that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

With that being said, however, it is important to approach your blog as if it were your life-blood. You don’t have to blog every day but when you do sit down to bang out a post it has to be your best – there’s no exceptions.

Maybe it’s just that I’m cynical about the web at times but it seems that people are too ready to jump into trends. Yeah, I’m going a bit off topic but what seems to happen is that many bloggers get this idea stuck into their mind that they have to create a post each and every day to succeed. I don’t think that’s the case.

To me, a successful blogging habit does detail taking time out of the day not just to write a post but to spend time in areas that are completely irrelevant to blogging. You need to get away from your blog so you can experience LIFE because when you sit back down to write, you’re going to have a story.

So, in all, my idea of building a great habit is trying your best each and every day to do something new but also work on those projects that allow you to expand beyond just creating theoretical posts – no one cares if you can explain how to do something in great detail; they want to read your spin on the subject.

All of this takes time, as always, so get it through your head that it’s not just going to pop up and be done in a single night. Some posts may be years in the making. When you draw upon your life experiences, work and other interactions with others you’ll be able to create what few people do: original content.

Want to know the truth? Stop blogging. Stop writing the same, contrived posts you see everywhere else on the web. Don’t just write blog posts, write content that will garner legacy, something you can be proud of. If you approach each piece in this fashion than you’ll distill the perfect mentality of blogging, create a great habit while working and truly garner the authority you deserve.

Hesham Zebida from Famous Bloggers says:

I think my successful blogging habit is to publish a new post daily on my blog, it doesn’t really matter if it’s written by me of any other blogger who guest post on my blog, but I am trying to give something new that has value everyday to my blog readers.

Another good thing I do is reply to every single comment and email I get.

Also I have the habit of checking my blog codes often, looking all the time to enhance it’s performance, I usually add something new to it’s design or features every week or two, so it’s not boring at all for my readers to stick around.

Steve from Steve scott site says:

I highly recommend sticking to a publishing schedule.  This is a document I have open on my desktop at all times.  This lists each date that an article has been posted, plus a URL where I can add it to posts as I’m writing them.

Furthermore, I use this publishing schedule to plan future articles.  I like to work on posts about a week in advance.  That way I can pull all the information together and subconsciously work on what I’ll write as I go about my day. This often helps because when I sit down to write the post, I’ll already know what to do.

An equally important blogging habit is to work on “long-term projects.”  These is the stuff that actually produces income.  For instance, I’m currently working on site redesign because I know a better look/format will increase my opt-in rates.

Many bloggers tend to ignore the long-term stuff.  I feel this is actually MORE important than writing a lot of posts.

I’d definitely recommend creating the habit where you’re working on future activities that’ll grow your blog and your online business.

Tristan Higbee From Blogging Bookshelf says:

Writing every day: I don’t write blog posts every day, but I write at least a thousand words a day. This keeps my writing skills honed. I’ve found that the more I do this, the faster I get at writing my blog posts.

Being active on Twitter: I try to be active on Twitter for 15 minutes or so multiple times a day. I’ve seen a direct correlation between my Twitter activity and traffic coming back to my blog. Consistency is key.

Guest blogging every week: I try to write two guest posts every week, but I make sure I get at least one done.

Replying to all the comments on my blog: This is an easy and fun way to interact with your readers while building a sense of community on your blog.

Commenting on at least 20 other blogs a day: For me, this one is a goal rather than a habit; I currently don’t do it every day, but I’m working on it. On some days I’ll comment on 5 blogs and on other days, 50 blogs.

How did I cultivate these habits? I guess it all just comes down to consistency. I make sure I do them every day, and eventually they just become habits!

I’ve found that once I miss a day, that makes it easier for me to justify not doing them the next day and the day after that. So just make sure you make your habits a daily pattern.

Thu Nguyen from blogging for dot info says:

When I first started blogging, I was attracted to the idea of making money online. I went head on to TAKE A RISK to see if it would work out or not.

In particular, I was interested in the concept of writing for pay. And just that simple act of decision-making put me into an environment where I found out that there were many more variables to work with:

- how to write content effectively to attract viewers

- understanding how you work to make ideas happen

- utilizing social media to market your efforts

- reciprocating your time online to build relationships

- consistently finding ways to be innovative with your learning

- giving back to the community by sharing what you know

All of this would have frustrated a beginner. I didn’t even have a plan however, I was determined to give it 6 months. After that, if it flopped, I would have proved to myself it wasn’t worthwhile. So I gave myself a CHANCE and a deadline to lit the fire. I was now under pressure.

And my niche? I had none really. I was blogging for information. Now did that work?

Surprisingly, the blog took off. With consistency in creating content each week, through HARD WORK and play in social marketing, I learned to think like a blogger, how to be creative with content and where to target them.

That was when I realized the power of social media was in the community. So the blog became an extension of me and of what I knew in the ideas I cultivated in branding, marketing, self-development and online performance. You too will learn to ADOPT your passions online using technology to present it well. You’ll eventually find out what is your knack for writing stellar content.

The power also lies in your tagline. For example, I have ‘Relax, it’s only process.’ That reminds me to work hard but to also enjoy what I’m doing. In a sense, it’s my MANTRA. Hence, what’s going to make you feel good about coming to the blog and knowing what’s about to happen next? After all, you’re going to compile content week in and out, might as well make it worthwhile.

It’s also about L.I.F.E. – Learning, Implementation, Flexibility and Experience. Sounds corny I know, but it’s my process which I have made personal. When you BRAND yourself with something and believe it, it will happen. Slowly, but it will shine. You will then roll with it and it will pick up. You just have to be the one to start it.

Can you do that?

When you prove to yourself you can do it, it will give you the COURAGE to join many more projects. In fact, there are opportunities for bloggers out there in guest posting, challenges and groups to join free. Ever since I have learned to network effectively, I’ve join groups which I would have never imagined being apart of and that brings credibility. You just want to keep adding to it.

So you’re going to rock too.

You’re going to have a style, a unique take on topics and if you can compile an article to challenge the way bloggers have done things, even entertain them, now that’s a lot of hats to put on, but eventually that’s what blogging will lead you to cultivate. You’ll LEARN to know what you’re good at, but it starts with giving it a chance.

Finally, you’ll find that the hardest part is to remain FAITHFUL to your endeavors on some days. That’s because no one’s going to motivate you in the beginning. But as time moves on, your blogging buddies will kick you in the rear. You’re now obligated to grow. You’ll have fun in the process too. You’ll be bitten with the social bug. You’ll want to roar and that’s all part of the process.

That’s how I’ve improved. It’s not that I like to get kicked right in my behind but the network you’ll find, a tribe some call it, will absolutely motivate and enhance your ability to communicate effectively. You’ll find what you’re good at and if you’re quick, put it into action to rock it. So grow as a SELF-STARTER and you won’t be left behind.

Hector from hectorjcuevas dot com says:

I have two that I think would help your readers. The first is that I focus on high level activities 80% of the time. Things like Content Creation, Getting Traffic, Lead Generation & Product Development; everything else is secondary.

The second habit I try to get myself into is working in chunks. I’ve tried working 4 hours straight – doesn’t work. I’ve tried working 2 hours straight – meh, I get a little distracted. But when I take a break every 60 minutes, I get way more done.

I try not to complicate the HOW too much. I disconnect the internet when I don’t need it. I use my Iphone as an alarm clock so I know when to stop working.

These simple actions, when done consistently, turn into habits that work really well for getting stuff done with a lot less stress.”

Ana Hoffman from Traffic generation café says:

Consistency is the first word that comes to mind.

My goal is to write one blog post per day, every day. The more you post, the more traffic you get; it’s just that simple. I’ve seen the proof of it over and over again since I started publishing daily on my Traffic Generation Cafe blog and weekly on blogs like Technshare.com and FamousBloggers.net.

Come up with a plan that works for you and your needs and stick with it.

Do I fail at pumping this consistent volume of posts?

Sure. In those cases I am left to bug my blogging friends to write a killer guest post for me. :)

However, the more you do it, the more it becomes your second nature. Your brain is a muscle too and needs exercise like any other muscle – the more you write, the easier it gets.

I like what Hector said about focusing on core tasks. There are a million things that you could do, and come up with a reason why they’re kind of helping your blog. If you treat your blogging time with respect though, I think you’ll stay on task more like Hector does.

Good post Adam, I love the point murlu said that it is not necessary to do frequent post, but when we post that should be our best. Hope its the secret of his success. Famous bloggers shows the importance of guest bloggers. As Ana said, consistency is more important for every bloggers, which i feel lack on my blogging. Have to practice to be more consistent on blogging at least on 2011.

It great having all experts tips on your blog Adam, Thanks for making it available on endeavor online.

I wish Merry Christmas and Happy new year -2011 to all you guys ! ( Special wishes to Adam’s little cute fairy daughter)

Thanks a ton for including me here, Adam!

I think the greatest quote in this whole post is what Murray said: “No one cares if you can explain how to do something in great detail; they want to read your spin on the subject.”

    Yeah! Amen to that.

These really are great ideas from great bloggers, so thanks for sharing. Retweeted!

Love the post. I follow each and every one of these amazing bloggers. Learn heaps from them all :-)

Each brings something unique to the table. Not the usual fluff and no same old, same old, from them.

Always look forward to visiting their blogs as I know I will not only be learning something helpful but there will be heaps of interaction within the comments section as genuine community grows on blogs like these.

Happy Christams and all the best for 2011 Adam. Really enjoyed your posts in 2010 and looking forward to all that 2011 will bring.

    Hi Adam,

Pure inspirational. They are bloggers whom i respect and admire. Murray has actually pointed out one that i like a lot. Not writing the same post that we can find everywhere means we need to cultivate our own blogging habits. We have to judge what we going to achieve and repeat our blogging habits consistently.

Thanks for sharing brother. Keep on rocking.

Awesome bloggers! Great opinions! I love the way Murray share his own thought. Nice job bro. Well, for me, I think you should only post when you have a good thing to say. It’s not mandatory for you to publish a post everyday. Post when you have something good to say. Thanks for sharing. Have fun.

This was really fascinating Adam, it’s always useful to know how successful bloggers operate, I picked up many tips.

I was particularly interested in Steve’s idea of writing posts a week in advance. I must admit when I have done this myself, I think I’ve produced better quality because it gives more time to think about it.
