We all want various things in our life. If you really think about, it may sound selfish at times because we humans just want more and more. Well, we probably wouldn’t be humans if WANT and DESIRE was not in our vocabulary. But let’s not forget that a lot of people never have the things that they truly want even if they bust their ass for it.
Most likely, there are infinite numbers of things you want in life. Maybe one day you want to start your own business, maybe you want to quit smoking and start working out. You want good health, wealth and happiness. Anyone in the right state of mind would want to get better and do better in life. Don’t you agree?
Now, I want a lot of things in life as well. One day I want to quit my day job, travel the world, see and do new things that I have never seen or experienced before. As a matter of fact, I have already covered damn near 5 pages of my notebook with the bucket list of things I want to do in my life time.
Well, there are lots of things we want but don’t you think it is about time we stopped wanting those things and actually start having them, experiencing them and enjoying every moment of it. Nothing is going to happen when we just want it unless of course, we take action to have it.
Okay let’s say you want to start your own blog to talk about the topic that you are real passionate about. Are you still wanting it or have you already researched on the domain name and have already started writing your posts? Let’s say you already have a blog but you want more traffic to it. Are you constantly writing valuable articles in your niche, visiting social networks and all the other things that need to be done? Let’s say you already have a popular blog in your niche with a decent number of visitors. Are you already trying various ways to monetize your blog to find out what works the best for you? If you don’t have a clue on how to monetize your site; are you seeking help from others that are willing to help you?
So, how do you go from wanting to having it?
Taking action; my friends. This is no rocket science at all. When you are focused on your goals and take consistent action towards achieving those goals you start having the things you always want.
But you may ask; there are lots of people that are working towards what they want. How come they don’t have it yet?
Well; success is a process and this is where your mindset really comes to play. The shift in your mind from wanting to working towards having is not an ordinary shift. This is the shift where your actions follow the path of working consistently towards having instead of just wanting.
If you want to make money online you have to have the right make money mindset. If you are thinking about making money off your blog; you need to understand that your blog is not just your online journal where you publish whatever comes in your mind. You need to treat it like your business and strive day in and day out to provide quality. You have to give more than what others in your niche do.
You truly need to understand what your market wants and scour through various sources to find the latest in the market – before anybody else does. You need to understand the importance of smart goal settings, figure out your short term and long term goals and work furiously towards achieving those goals with patience and persistence.
Here are some of the important elements that you definitely need to consider in order to cultivate the right mind shift from wanting to having:
- You understand deep within yourself that success does not come easy and you are not looking for the easy way out. It is you that is going to make it happen and you truly believe in yourself that you can do it. If you don’t do it nobody else is going to do it for you.
- You are willing to do whatever it takes; come up with time, manage your available time, stop taking part in activities that are giving you no benefits and are not afraid of failing or not being good enough!
- You understand that value and integrity are your top priorities and refuse to do anything that is going to harm your reputation for the sake of few dollars of profit. You know that you need to strive in order to give the value first and success will soon follow afterwards.
- Money is important to you to have the desired lifestyle you always wanted. However, relationships with your audience, peers and networking with the elites in your niche are more important and you fully understand that this is the key to your success.
- You understand that building something from scratch like an online business is not a joke. You are willing to learn from others, from your own failures and never hesitate to take part in various trainings to seek out new knowledge.
- You believe in yourself that you are going to be a trendsetter. Not only are you willing to set new trends but you are also furiously keeping up with the latest trends within your niche so that you can capitalize on it.
- Working furiously towards your goal is important but you understand that break from work is also important. Your health, your family, fun time is equally important because you know that success takes a long time and you don’t want to burn yourself out in just a matter of days or months.
In conclusion,
The second you realize deep within your mind that you are tired of wanting and are going to work to make it happen; success will come to you. Success is not easy but if you truly understand the above elements and are willing to sacrifice – I don’t have any doubt in my mind that you are going to have the things you always wanted.

I created this blog to chronicle the success and failures of my various online endeavors and to share with you the knowledge I gain along the way...

Hi Adam:
I agree with you, human heart is full of desires and wants and it never stops wishing and wanting and using.
How to get the most out of life. Every one makes a style of getting what they want based on their experience what works for them. Some work very smartly to get most of the things they want easily, others simply make goals, and work on their goals to achieve them.
However the strategies yo have mentioned are very important and are to be used in situations that you have mentioned.
Great analysis by you, and all of these work too.

Exactly! If we didn’t have wants and desires we probably wouldn’t be who we are. If you think about it Fran; the desire of wanting more and more is a great motivational force to achieve bigger and better things in life.
Even though no one can have everything they want, many things that we want in life can be achieved if they are realistic and we bust our ass for it! Achieving some of the things we want in life can be a greater inspiration to work for bigger and better goals in life.
Thanks for your insights.

Hey Adam,
Great post… I know so many people in my life that are all talk and no action. Personally, I truly believe that if you really want something that you will take the necessary steps in order to achieve just that. If you don’t know how to do something, reach out to others and don’t be afraid to ask for help or support.
You are so right that success is a process. You can know what you want and take the action but that still doesn’t mean that it’s all going to happen overnight. No one ever created a business from scratch and within 6 months recouped all their investment and started making a huge profit. Everything takes time but if it’s something you really want bad, you’ll stick with it. If not, it wasn’t something you really did want. At least that’s how I view it.
Thanks for this post, really worth the read.

If someone wants something real bad in life and are passionately willing to stick to working for it no matter what the circumstances are success will be there.
I agree with you cent percent – Success does not happen overnight. It is a process that can take months or even years.
Thanks for stopping by Adrienne.
You have a wonderful day!
Adam,
This is the first time I visited your blog; and, based on reading this particular post, i’d say that this won’t be my last.
What stuck in my mind is the 4th element: Relationship is more important than money.
We cannot just want things and desire to have them for nothing, just as like human nature dictates us. We have motives and purpose. The values that we hold close to our heart determine what aspirations we want to achieve.
Desire is an irrational impulse. Our motivations should drive us to get there. Successful only comes up if we have the right motivations.

You hit the bullseye man! The value and integrity we hold in our mind really determines how successful, happy, wealthy (and everything else in between)we become. It also determines how far are we willing to take ourselves in order to have the things that we want.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving some thoughtful insights.

Hi Adam
This is a well written and persuasive post. I agree with all the points you listed, especially taking time away from blogging. This is critical to longevity and stay focused and committed.

Micheal,
Great to see you around mate!
You are right break is important especially when you don’t wan to get burned out to the point where you just hate it and don’t want to continue doing it anymore!
This happens to me a lot to…You know I work on something for a long time and still cannot come up with exactly how I wanted it to be like…whenever I start feeling like that, I totally drop everything I am doing and engage on something that relaxes me and takes my mind away from it – like playing with my daughter or shooting some hoops, cooking out or whatever..
Later on mate..
Great post, Adam!
Sometimes when I read through a post, I try to think of what I would say on the subject. And you hit everything I would have said, plus some stuff I hadn’t thought of before.
I think my favorite thing you talked about was “smart goal setting.” Goal setting is great, but if the goals aren’t realistic or really aligned with what you’re trying to accomplish, they’re not worth much.
Great stuff, thanks again.

Goal setting is great, but if the goals aren’t realistic or really aligned with what you’re trying to accomplish, they’re not worth much. Now that is the absolute truth!
Hi Adam
Such a great post. You have covered it well. I have set goals and now I am setting them for the month rather than just what I want to achieve for the year.
Making me focus more and also work smarter; though it still seems to be taking time too lol
I definitely won’t be quitting cos I know success will come. For me it is now easier to move forward with collaboration with other bloggers. Working together is proving a great boost to taking my blog and business forward
The things I wanted to achieve are now happening but there had to be action….not just wishful thinking!

Hello Adam,
Thanks for your Post, I like your Blog and I Bookmarked it.
Amung your Important Elements in order to cultivate the right mindshift, you also talk about Trendsetting and taking Breaks. So I wonder if I might be a Trenssetter.
‘While a lot of Bloggers still worry about a Posting Schedule, I adopted a Mindshift of NOT using a Particular Posting Schedule!’
It’s a lot more enjoyable Posting that way since I only write Posts when I am Inspired to write Posts and when I Enjoy writing them. (the same goes for writing in Forums or for example writing
THIS COMMENT you are reading right now)
This way making my Posts
- EXCLUSIVE – Posts!
‘So, I wonder if I might be
setting a TREND!’
‘I also frequently take Breaks to be able to
frequently Recharge….,’
It actually Inspired me to write a Post about frequently taking – Coffee Breaks – on my Writing Lifestyle Blog, and now I actually (pre) sell
- Coffee Makers and Espresso Machines –
on that Blog!
All the Best,
To your Happy – Online – Inspiration,

Making every single post an exclusive post huh! I really like the idea man; writing only when you are inspired to write..
You know I do frequently toot on the importance of a posting schedule in the articles I write. But really you have to follow whatever works best for you; even if it means writing only when you are inspired to write.
I am definitely going to read your post on coffee break after this comment..
Thanks for the share and the insightful comment.
Also an other thing about working with a ‘static’ posting schedule is that it doesn’t feel flexible enough for me.
Sometimes it can feel a little less ‘authentic’ because I also frequently write new posts based on some of the things my readers wrote commented about.
This way not having a ‘static’ posting schedule doesn’t alway’s have to mean that there is a low posting frequency. Sometimes - especially when I get a lot of comments - and get passionate and inspired posting frequency might even be higher than with a ‘static’ posting schedule.

I think no. 2 hit home the most for me because it really is a case of not enough time, and with that comes the need to prioritise what’s important to the growth of your business.
Thanks for sharing.

Even I used to say ‘oh I don’t have enough time to do what it takes’ all the time Alex but (thank God) I finally realized that it was not the time I was lacking, it was the commitment to make things happen by prioritizing my available time.
Awesome post Adam!

Taking action is the key to “start having” without that, we can only be dreaming! And persist till you succeed because if you should give up easily, I don’t think you can make it big. Thanks so much bro

Great stuff, Madhu.
As you know I left the region to do just what you are talking about here. By doing instead of sitting, some of my bucket list is being made real. Fruit starts with the All-City Bowling Tournament this month.
Point 7 is gospel. I came to a place where one can practice a lot then have the mountains only 20 minutes away. The key has been practice, practice, practice AND meet and listen to the elites.
My overall model includes skills that are portable so some of the economic pressure is relieved.
Topping it off is this region has really good ice cream.
Thank you, Adam.
Hey there; It sure has been a while huh!
It is great to see someone actually working towards making their bucket list a reality man…

If you want to get something or to achieve something, you need to start working on it. You can’t just simply want something by simply just wanting it. Taking an action is very important but is very hard to do. To make everything possible, you should have a proper plan together with your discipline.
